McCune woman arrested on seven arson counts following three-year investigation

On 07-09-2018 at approximately 9:34 p.m., Investigators from the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office arrested 46-year old Sherry L. Kerby of McCune, KS on one count of arson of a dwelling. 

Further investigation led to additional charges of five counts of arson of a dwelling as well as one count of aggravated arson of an occupied dwelling. Kerby's arrests were made after almost three years of investigation by the Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office into the intentional burning of 13 structures in McCune from 09-05-2015 to 07-03-2018.

Kerby was booked into the Crawford County Jail and is being held on a $350,000 bond, pending formal charges.

Although Kerby was arrested in the matter, these and other arsons remain under investigation by the Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

Kerby is presumed innocent unless and until the allegations against her are proved beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
