Entries sought to paint Joplin green and gold

(From Southern News Service)

Area businesses have until Oct. 16 to register to participate in Missouri Southern State University’s annual Paint the Town Green and Gold event.

“It’s a fun event for us,” said Landon Adams, director of student activities. “We want to give our supporters an outlet to show their Lion pride.”

All participants will receive two tickets to the 37th annual Homecoming Picnic on Oct. 23, two tickets to the game on Oct. 24, two T-shirts, a MSSU window decal and a spirit flag.

The number of awards have been expanded this year, said Adams.

“We will have individual town winners for Joplin, Carl Junction, Carthage, Neosho and Webb City,” he said. “We’ll also have awards for Best Interior, Best Exterior, Most Detailed, Most Unique and Most Spirited.”

Town winners will receive recognition at the Homecoming game and two basketball ticket mini-packs. Winners in the other categories will receive recognition at the game and a 15-second basketball spot on the video board.

Registration will close on Oct. 16. Judging will be based on originality, quality and overall school spirit. For more information, call 417-625-9669 or register online by visiting www.mssu.edu/paintthetown/.
