Two seriously injured in accident at Lanagan; driver arrested for DWI

Two Arkansas residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident 6 a.m. today on MO 59 in Lanagan.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Billy W. Kemp, 27, Springdale, Arkansas, driving a 2002 Accura MDX, was distracted by a vehicle control device, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, and overturned into a creek bed. Kemp was ejected from the vehicle.

Kemp and a passenger, Renee N. Evans, 24, Rogers, Arkansas, were treated for serious injuries, with Evans going to Mercy Hospital, Rogers, Arkansas, and Kemp to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Kemp was cited for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated
