Learn more about the number of services offered through the City’s Health Department in two upcoming Joplin Insider programs airing on KGCS-TV.
Host Lynn Onstot talks with both Cynthia Burnham, R.N., manager of the Medical Services Division, during the first show to learn more about various services and programs for children and adults, including immunizations and community health areas. The second portion of this show featured the many services offered through the Women, Infant, Children’s program (WIC) with Joyce Doty, coordinator of the program.
A second program about the Health Department has Ryan Talken, Assistant Health Director, as the guest. Managing the Environmental Health Division, Talken explained the various inspections that help keep our community safe and healthy including at restaurants, daycares, lodging facilities and neighborhood associations to ensure proper hygiene and sanitary processes of each. The department’s role in preventing mosquitoes in the area was also discussed, and Talken added the importance of citizens doing their part by removing containers that hold standing water from their yards and property.

KGCS programming may be seen over the air on digital channel 22 and on regional cable television systems including Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
