Two injured during fire at 812 Pennsylvania

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 812 Pennsylvania. The initial call came in at 9:59 PM Tuesday and the first fire crews arrived on scene at 10:03, and found a two-story multi-family dwelling with heavy fire showing from the southeast corner of the building on the second floor. Crews entered the structure and they were able to quickly extinguish the fire and confine it to the room of origin. There were eleven occupants in the building (nine adults and two children). One person sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. A second person sustained severe injuries and was transported by METS ambulance service to a local hospital. The fire was brought under control at 10:30.

There were no injuries to firefighting crews.

The fire department responded to the structure fire with 9 apparatus and 17 personnel.

At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Joplin Fire Marshal.
