Greenfield man airlifted to Springfield Mercy after car slides into train

A Greenfield man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision 3:30 p.m. today six miles northwest of Everton.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Cheverolet pickup driven by Bob L. Bishop, 86, Greenfield, approached the railroad tracks on a snow-covered roadway, began to slide and was not able to stop as it crossed the tracks.

A Burlington Northern locomotive driven by Anthony P. Bohlmann, 45, Ozark, was sounding its horn to signal since the crossing is only marked by a crossbuck.

Bishop was airlifted to Springfield Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.
