Thomas Jefferson senior killed in one-vehicle accident near Carthage

A Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School senior was killed in a one-vehicle accident 7 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 180, two miles north of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Mazda driven by Weston M. Greenstreet, 18, Oronogo, lost control, ran off the roadway, overturned several times and struck two trees.

The location of the crash obscured the visibility of the vehicle and it was not discovered until today.

Greenstreet was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:53 a.m. today by Jasper County Deputy Coroner Jason Hutchins.

The fatality was the 94th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
