(From the City of Joplin)
It’s time to begin thinking of the upcoming municipal elections, set for Tuesday, April 5, 2016. The final day to register to vote in the April 5, 2016 election is Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Citizens must be 17 ½ years of age to register, and 18 years of age to vote; a U.S. Citizen and a Missouri resident.
“I encourage residents who have not yet registered, to please do this in order to let their voice be heard in the election,” said City Clerk Barbara Hogelin. “It’s easy and residents can do this at the County Clerk’s office in the Jasper County Courts building at 601 South Pearl. Their office is located on the second floor of the building.”
Additionally, those residents residing in Newton County can go to the Newton County Clerk’s office in Neosho to get registered.
In order to register to vote, Missourians must submit a completed voter registration application to their local election authority. This can be done in person or by mail.
Hogelin also reminds voters that voting precincts will be identified with signs stating “Vote Here” to designate the polling place for voting on April 5. A list of the precincts for the City of Joplin are listed below. For more information about voting, visit the Vote Missouri site by clicking the link at the end of this article.
