City of Neosho leaf pickup slowed by equipment breakdown

(From the City of Neosho)

Neosho Public Works has experienced a complete failure of the equipment utilized for primary leaf collection. This unit was a truck mounted vacuum that had been in use for approximately 20+ years and has previously experienced one rebuild.

Due to the expense and logistics, this equipment cannot be replaced in short order. The loss of this equipment will force Public Works to continue the collection using a clam-shell bucket mounted on a backhoe arm. This collection process will be very slow and tedious at best and will focus on removing the largest collected piles of leaves.

Due to the large number of waterline breaks that the City is experiencing at this time, the following process will detail further leaf collection: Areas will not be collected in order. Focus will be on retrieving the largest collections of leaves in place at this time. Only one pass will be made this season. If you have been missed, do not panic as this process will be slow, dependent upon available manpower and collection based upon the heaviest concentration of leaves.

This turn of events is unfortunate, but Neosho Public Works will attempt to provide the best possible services under the circumstances. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
