Highway Patrol Troop D announces results of Jasper County safety sweep

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program SAFETE operations in Greene, Jasper, and Lawrence counties on January 8, 2018.

During the operation in Greene County, troopers stopped eight commercial vehicles and five passenger vehicles. Additionally, troopers conducted eight commercial vehicle inspections which resulted in two vehicles and one driver being placed out-of-service. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation.

Commercial Vehicle Violation -- 1

Troopers also issued 20 warnings for various other offenses during this operation.

During the operation in Jasper County, troopers stopped five commercial vehicles. Additionally, troopers conducted five commercial vehicle inspections which resulted in one vehicle and two drivers being placed out-of-service. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation.

Felony Drug Arrest -- 1
Misdemeanor Drug Arrest -- 1
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest – 1
Commercial Vehicle Violations -- 2

Troopers also issued 10 warnings for various other offenses during this operation.

During the operation in Lawrence County, troopers stopped nine commercial vehicles and one passenger vehicle. Additionally, troopers conducted nine commercial vehicle inspections which resulted in one vehicle being placed out-of-service. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation.

Troopers issued 13 warnings for various other offenses during this operation.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
