MODOT provides update on Crossroads Interchange

Crossroads Interchange Construction
Update for Week of September 7, 2015
 
  • No work scheduled over the Labor Day holiday weekend
  • Northbound I-49 to eastbound I-44 ramp CLOSED during nighttime hours, Wednesday, Sept. 9
Work scheduled:
  • Striping ramps and newly widened areas of I-44/I-49 Tuesday-Friday, Sept. 8-11
  • Pouring concrete on north side of I-44/I-49 on 20th Street and Prigmor Avenue
  • Grading dirt in the median of I-44/I-49
  • Installing guardrails in the median
  • Installing street lighting on south side of I-44/I-49
  • Grading dirt along the new pavement on south side of I-44/I-49
  • Applying grass seed and mulch on north and south sides of I-44/I-49
Traffic Impacts:
  • Lane closings for striping operations on ramps and newly widened areas of I-44/I-49.
    • Watch for slow-moving equipment.
    • Work will occur during both daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Northbound I-49 to eastbound I-44 ramp CLOSED.
    • Work hours: 7 p.m.-6 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9.
    • Detour: North on Missouri Route 249 to the Missouri Route 66 (7th Street) exit, back to southbound Route 249 and the eastbound I-44 exit.
  • 20th Street at Prigmor Avenue (CR 190) CLOSED for duration of the project
  • Apple Road CLOSED at Prigmor Avenue (CR 190) for duration of the project. Drivers can access Apple Road via CR 180 and CR 170 north from Route FF (32nd Street)
  • Narrowed lanes on I-44/I-49 for the duration of the project
  • At least one lane of traffic open in each direction on I-44/I-49
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Project Background:
  • Build interchange at Prigmor Avenue (Jasper County Road 190) over I-44/I-49 with ramps connecting to the interstate
  • Build roundabouts on each end of bridge over I-44/I-49 to connect ramps to Prigmor Avenue
  • Resurface and add two foot shoulders on Prigmor Avenue between new interchange and 7th Street (Route 66) to the north
  • Prime Contractor: Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., Columbia
  • Total Project Cost: $8.6 million
  • Completion Date: November 1, 2015
  • Partnership Project: Jasper County, City of Duenweg, City of Joplin, Crossroads Business and Distribution Park
