A moment of silence for those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be observed a noon Friday, Sept. 11, at Missouri Southern State University.
Darren Fullerton, vice president of student affairs, and Staff Sergeant Joseph Dixon will offer a few words to the campus community. Throughout the morning, members of the Campus Activities Board will read the names of the victims. Both events will take place at the Freedom Flag Plaza.
CAB will also be showing the 2011 film “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” at 6:30 p.m. that evening in Phelps Theater. This story chronicles a 9-year-old amateur inventor, who searches New York City for a lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the World Trade Center.
Other events planned for next week on campus include the start of the International Film Festival, two Spain Semester presentations, screenings of “Paddington” and a return performance by hypnotist Christ Jones.
